Research ByIQ is a venture studio for foundational technologies. We build seed-stage proofs of concept for the hard problems sitting at the heart of trillion-dollar ecosystems — compute, silicon, kernels, manufacturing, sovereign infrastructure — and spin each one out as its own company.


How we work

Three steps, then it leaves.

Find the bottleneck

We look for the physical or architectural limit that an entire ecosystem has quietly accepted — a boot time, a fabrication step, a transformer's cost per token.

Build the proof

A small team, a working artifact, a measured result. No decks without silicon, no claims without a benchmark someone else can run.

Spin it out

Each proof becomes an independent company with its own name, domain and cap table. The studio stays small; the ventures get to be large.

12 eBPF Audit A zero-install audit container that probes your own infrastructure for the default kernel capabilities and eBPF exposure that quietly break container isolation. Tooling
13 Unicode Truth Engine Round-trip-safe, locale-aware filename identity across macOS, Windows, Linux and cloud object stores — with homoglyph and TOCTOU defenses built in. Research
14 Hermitic Builds Reproducible builds measured, not hoped for: the Charlton Hermitic Entropy metric counts every entropy source between source and a bit-for-bit binary, so engineering can drive it to zero. Research
15 SwiftNic A Layer-2 cloud NIC for immutable SwiftBoot workloads: bitwise control of IP headers where the hyperscaler's hardware allows, and a public-IP presence for on-prem apps through an ephemeral cloud twin. Design
16 Sovereign S3 S3-compatible storage as a service — guaranteed prices, free egress and an SLA bandwidth floor per TB paid — that also lets you supply your own NAS pools into its global infrastructure. Design
17 SureVoucher Anonymous, cryptographically-signed value tokens — a mint issuing Ed25519-signed bearer tokens with an encrypted balance and an atomic double-spend ledger, so a service can be paid without linking identity to usage. Prototype
18 DAFT Server-less, git-native CI/CD: every state change is a signed git commit, so the audit log is the repository. Runners are your own heterogeneous hardware — cloud x86, ARM Macs, GPU boxes, bare metal — and cloud runners exist only while a job is queued. Prototype
